Dear Chagdud Gonpa Sangha and friends,
I pray that you, your families and those you know are well these days. Aside from observing the suggested protocol to curb the spread of the current virus, we also find ourselves caught in an atmosphere of uncertainty and our habit of making and relying on plans is frustrated. These times clearly show us where to deepen our understanding of basic Dharma teachings and provide us an ongoing opportunity to develop greater patience, mindfulness, prayerfulness and compassion. Fortunately, we have the good fortune to be heirs to the rich legacy that results in enlightenment, the embodiment of which is the Three Jewels of the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. With the necessity to fully accept the new culture of protection by “social distancing”, “sheltering in place”, “self-quarantining”, etc., the spirit behind the Jewel of Sangha, which is the spiritual community that keeps the doorway to the Dharma open, is being challenged. Therefore, you are invited to join with me in the regular Wednesday practice with Chagdud Gonpa Amrita sangha at 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time using Zoom. See details below. The practice is the Heart Sutra, Concise Red Tara and Chenrezig. These are from Precious Echoes (online here), the prayer book that you can access from the Amrita website. We will also recite the Prayer for Pacifying the Fear of Disease. So, open up your hearts and texts, login and let’s practice together!
